Amici’s First Virtual Canoe Heads for Kids one for the record books!
The first ever Virtual Canoe Heads for Kids was nothing short of remarkable! In an ever complex and challenging world, we saw the best of the human, and camp, spirit on May 30, 2020.
Our participants were challenged to replace the traditional 15 km of portaging and paddling for either a 15 km journey of their own or 15 camp activities in the comfort of their homes.
We saw participants embark on 15 km solo canoe trips, 15 km runs, 15 km walks, 1,500 rep workouts, 15 km portages, 15 camp activities with their families, 15 socially distanced s’mores kit drop offs to loved ones and much, much more. Canoe Heads took to social media to share their journeys, and garner much-needed support for Amici campers. Camp truly is in you for life!
On behalf of Amici campers and their families, we want to thank everyone who participated, sponsored, supported or cheered our Canoe Heads on. Thanks to each of you, our Canoe Heads participants far exceeded their fundraising target of $150,000…and raised an incredible $225,000 all in support of Amici campers and their families.
Though summer camps were unable to open in summer 2020, the funds raised during Amici’s Virtual Canoe Heads for Kids made a lasting and important impact for Amici campers through the Amici Family 2020 Support Fund.
Thank you for your generosity, thank you for your faith in Amici and thank you for your belief in the power of camp. Your support is meaningful and it is important. Our campers and their families are so lucky to have you in their corner.
Building off the success of last year’s first ever virtual event, we are ecstatic to announce that registration for Amici’s Virtual Canoe Heads for Kids 2021 is now open! This year’s event on Saturday, June 5, 2021 will once again be a virtual extravaganza, all with the goal of getting our kids back to camp in 2021.
