It’s important that the information recorded within identity and AML checks is accurate. First and surname details are used to confirm a client’s identity, and to run checks within public databases (such as Adverse Media).

Because of this, firms must fill in the name details before a check is sent out. However, we know that small errors can occur. In accordance with this, Amiqus has now added a function that allows your clients to request changes to their first name and/or surname if they believe that the information is incorrect.

How does it work?

When a check is sent to a client, the first name and surname fields are prepopulated. This is to ensure that the information aligns with the individual’s documentation and cannot be altered without your knowledge.

If your client would like to request a change to one or both of their names, they are given the option to submit new information.

Once this has been sent, the check (along with any others the client has been sent) will be suspended. This modification process does not use any credits.

You will see that there is ‘action required’ when you log into Amiqus, you can review the requested changes alongside the existing information recorded for that client.

If you’re happy with the change, you can ‘accept’ it and send the client an email to notify them that they are able to go back into Amiqus and complete the check. If there are multiple checks awaiting completion, they will all be updated with the new name. Please note that completed checks cannot be modified in this way.

If you do not agree with the changes submitted by the client, you have the option to ‘decline’, the client can continue with the checks requests although their name will remain unaltered. In this instance, you may want to speak to the client directly about their details.
