Looking Forward To (The Rest Of) 2021
Just over a month ago, I was appointed to chair the NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) Global Opportunities Board. I’ve been working with the NAHB for the last three years now and I’m excited to continue to serve the residential construction industry, working with a fantastic, diverse, and passionate group of fellow board members along the way.
The purpose of the Global Opportunities Board is to connect and educate the talent within the global residential construction industry and recognize the work that has been done within the home building community. Home builders, trade professionals, and building material manufacturers around the world all look to the board to provide best practices for residential construction, building science, and professional development. The NAHB recently announced upcoming events that the Board will take part in during 2021.
As for the agency I work for, Ammunition, it’s a natural fit because we work primarily in the home building sector, so it all fits together. We’re already three full months into 2021 (Where did the time go?), but the Global Opportunities Board has many things slated for the rest of 2021, and they’re all designed to help educate others about the NAHB and our mission. Here are a couple things I’m looking forward to this year:
NAHB Global Educational Series- One of the new things we’re doing this year is launching the NAHB Global Education Series, which is being spearheaded by a working group led by Jason August from North Star Synergies. The Series takes place several times a year and is developed by Board members, sponsors, or those who win the Global Innovation Award (more on that below). Sessions for the Series can focus on a specific region in some cases. Other topics include building science best practices and innovative new products. The first Series will take place at the end of April. More details about the event will be available very soon.
NAHB Global Innovation Awards (GIAs)- These awards recognize the achievements of leading builders, manufacturers, and educators from around the world. This year, the GIAs were presented at The Nationals and The Pillars of the Industry awards shows, which occurred virtually in early March. It was great to see the winners get recognized for the wonderful work each is doing in the residential construction industry. I’m looking forward to working with our new co-Chairs, Lita Dirks from Lita Dirks & Co and Jillian Pritchard-Cooke from Wellness Within Your Walls, on bringing next year’s GIAs to life. More details about the entry process will be available soon.
These two platforms will help others learn more about the Global Opportunities Board and the great work the NAHB is doing overall. At Ammunition, our goal is to “build brands that build the world.” These NAHB events are helping push that mission forward, too, and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for 2021 for the construction and home building industries.
