With the increase in awareness of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, there also comes a large influx in cryptocurrency wallet users. Statista reported that by Q1 of 2018, there were nearly 24 million wallet users worldwide, almost double that of Q1 in 2017. However, we know with the breaches and losses that many users have faced, a key factor to consider when choosing a wallet is its security. That’s why AMO and its parent company Penta Security Systems developed Pallet, a cryptocurrency wallet, to plug the gap in wallet security so that a cryptocurrency-based economy can really take off.

Many of you have been asking for a post detailing how to install and set up Pallet, so today we’ll go through the easy steps to make your very own, secure cryptowallet!

1) Install the application

Currently, Pallet is available on the Google Play Store. Find the download here or search “Pallet wallet” and it will be the first app that pops up!

2) Set up your PIN Code

After scrolling through some onboarding instructions, you’ll be prompted to set up a six-digit passcode. Make sure to set a PIN code you’ll remember as 5 wrong attempts will get you locked out of the application for 5 minutes. After setting up your account, Pallet also lets you activate biometrics in the Settings menu, and allow for fingerprint authentication instead of using the passcode.

3) Add a wallet or recover a wallet

After setting up the passcode, you’ll be led to this next screen where you can create a new wallet on the application or recover a lost wallet.

Most of you will be creating a new wallet at this point, and you can press the “Create New Wallet” button and move onto step 4. For those wishing to recover a wallet, utilize the mnemonic code that you generated when you first created a wallet and input the words in order:

4) Generate a mnemonic code

A mnemonic code is a list of 12 words which you’ll have to use to recover your account if it’s ever lost. You’ll see four at a time, and you can scroll through to see all twelve. You’ll want to write these down somewhere as you will need to enter the code later on. We suggest putting it on a piece of paper as shown below, or saving it on a note on your computer or phone. This way, you’ll have something to refer to when the next screen asks you to enter your mnemonic code!

5) Enter your mnemonic code

The next screen will ask you to enter four of the 12 mnemonic code words. Because the screen prompts for numbers 2, 3, 7, and 12, you should refer to your list and type in the selected numbers. In our example, it would be “odor, chimney, brand, and size” in that order.

6) Your wallet is ready!

Made it this far? Great! You’re basically done. Next you’ll see a prompt for your PIN code, and if you input it correctly, you’ll see a screen showing your available wallets. The default setting for Pallet gives you two wallets: one for Ethereum (ETH) and one for AMO (convenient, in case you want to buy AMO!).

To check the address of your wallets, you can press the wallet, and click on “Receive.” That will take you to a screen displaying the address and a QR code. If you already have a wallet, like the popular MyEtherWallet, that’s great — you’re able to import these wallets directly onto Pallet! We’ve written a more detailed post on this process which you can check out here.

Thanks for downloading and using Pallet! Your security is our top priority. Keep your eyes out for more updates, and reach out if you ever have any questions!
