Introduction to Amplitude Ventures
We’re here! We are excited to announce the launch of a new $200M Canadian- focused, healthcare venture firm, Amplitude Ventures. Co-created and supported by leading Canadian institutions, our new firm will focus on entrepreneurs that want to build game-changing global healthcare companies. Our world-class, Canadian research institutions produce cutting-edge science and entrepreneurs are starting exciting and ambitious companies based on this science and we’re planting our flag at the spot where these two strengths intersect:
What are we investing in?
Our core focus is to invest in Precision Medicine areas such as:
1) Targeted therapies like antibodies, immunotherapies, gene/cell therapy, as well as orphan diseases
2) Improved diagnostics: next gen imaging, cheap/convenient genetic sequencing and digital biomarkers
3) AI: applied AI in therapeutic/drug discovery, robotic guided surgery and 3D printing
We will invest deeply in our companies over the course of this fund and have separated our thesis into 3 areas: Create, Build and Grow. The latter two are more of the traditional venture financings where we will be investing in series A all the way to series C/pre-IPO. With our Create thesis, our goal is to help entrepreneurs start leading healthcare companies based on cutting edge sciences in areas of unmet need.
Where are we investing?
We focus on supporting Canadian companies. We’re currently based in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver but we are excited to learn about the unique technologies originating elsewhere in the country that we can grow in these major hubs. As we grow we also plan to grow the ecosystems around these hubs, creating a positive feedback loop and an environment ripe for growth and innovation.
When are we investing?
We’ve already started investing and have closed our first deal with Repare Therapeutics, an exciting DNA damage response company based out of Montreal and Boston that recently completed a US $82M series B round with leading global VCs. Our goal is to back great teams and entrepreneurs that are passionate about changing the face of healthcare.

All of us believe in the phenomenal science coming out of Canadian institutions and the calibre of Canadian entrepreneurs and we want to be a part of translating this potential into therapies that help patients lead healthy, productive lives.
