Building a startup is like cooking a dish — in order for the recipe to work, it needs to have the right ingredients.

Amroo is thought to become a real masterpiece from the first moment we came up with the idea. We are proud with the Amroo concept as it stands for Animal Roof and as this suggests it’s AirBnB for pets. It allows you to find a place where you can leave your pets while you are away — traveling for business or pleasure. This place could be a house or an apartment of another pet lover or even a pet hotel.

Our dear hope is that Amroo will motivate more people to adopt dogs and cats from the animal rescue shelters. How? By giving them the freedom to take care of an animal, while still keeping the freedom to travel as much as they need without worrying for the roof above their pets.

To become the success that it’s meant to be, Amroo, as every successful recipe, needs the right ingredients:

  1. Technical — checked! We need to build the whole platform, including, but not limited to website, backend (API), mobile apps, payments, etc. Once again, it’s similar to AirBnB and YES, we can build it!
  2. UI/UXchecked! There’s no point to build something that people are frustrated to use! It’s easy to see from our prototype, that we have the right person for this task!
  3. Growth (Marketing + Sales a.k.a Hustler) — WANTED! One challenge that must be faced is building the network. We need to spread the word and make both pet owners and pet hotels fond of the idea and join us. Easier said than done. However, if we don’t grow our database, Amroo would be useless. So we need a magician to pull this trick out of his/her hat.

How do we go about finding such a magician?

You could be our Hustler/Magician/Growth expert if you have something in common with the person described below.

Here is how we pondered upon the idea of finding this person:

  1. Our hustler should be coming from some of the big markets — think Germany, France, Italy, UK or USA (why not China or Japan?). The way we see it, Amroo can only work if we first start with a big city and then expand to cover a whole country. From then on it should be much easier expanding.
  2. As mentioned, we need a hustler — someone with passion for the idea and with some proven track record. We love working with young people! However, this is a huge enterprise and we won’t be comfortable if this person has not already proven their hustling mojo. The ideal person would be 25–40 and willing to sacrifice a lot of time and discomfort to make it happen! Honestly, we have no idea how this should be executed — cold-calling, door to door, blogging and getting influencers onbard, etc! So we need someone who knows how to do it and mostly believes that can pull it off!
  3. We are not looking for an employee, we are looking for a co-founder! Our wizard will be spending most of the time working really hard on this project. We won’t him/her to be fully involved and passionate about Amroo. Obviously it would makes sense for our hustler to own a share of the pie!

More about Amroo

Amroo, while still not publicly available, is generating quite a buzz among the ones who’ve heard about it one way or another. We’ve recently spoke at the TelerikNEXT about building it using a new technology called NativeScript. Amroo has even been featured in the keynote session, showing how sexy this project is!

If you want to know more, just check the post below.

During the conference, people were literally stopping me, while walking around the venue, and asking why they can’t find it on the App Store. Obviously they’ve heard about the app not only from the keynote, but also from the coverage of Amroo’s birth — the first Telerik Hackathon (yes, we’ve won it!). It’s quite normal for them to expect that we would have launched the app between the hackathon and the conference. After all, there were approximately six months between the two events.

So, why is not the app on the App Store?

It’s easy to think that we were either lazy or simply afraid of the challenge. As you will see, it’s neither. Amroo is dubbed “AirBnB for pets” — building an AirBnB-like platform may sound daunting. Well, not really — at least to us. At Cool Apps we are quite talented (I know, modesty :P) and already working with a partner on a platform that’s even more complex than that. To put it simply, we can build it, no hassle!

On the other hand, we are lazy indeed. The kind of lazy that seeks the smartest solution so that later we won’t have to work our asses off to fix a stupid mistake made early on. The way we see it, this kind of laziness makes for the best software developers (applies to other roles too).

So, if you are a Wizard/Hustler/Growth-Hacker (whatever you call it) — just get in touch! If you know someone who would fit the description and loves pets, then let us know too!

About that $ 1 Billion reward — if you are the right person, you know what we mean ;)

Bottom line, business or not, we do it out of love for pets! Living proof — our ginger office mascot Pixel! We truly believe that having a working platform like Amroo will make people adopt more pets from shelters!

By all accounts, it’s a noble cause, so please SHARE this!
