Software Engineering for Kids, and with spreadsheets, that’s Felienne
As an assistant professor at Delft University of Technology, she researches the application of software engineering methods to spreadsheets.
You know, basically Delft is a bike ride away from Amsterdam 😅, Felienne does her magic — real magic — with spreadsheets and her mission is teach as many people possible .
Talking in our Social Impact topic, Felienne will share how we can make positive mark on the world with code, by teaching the right people and giving them the most awesome tools available.
She has amazing energy, interesting stories and ambitious actions. That’s why we wanted her on stage so she will speak at our conference the 31st of March!

One of her biggest passions is to share her excitement for programming/tech with others. She teaches kids LEGO Mindstorms programming every Saturday in a local community center. She organises meetups, conferences all around the tech curious, from Arduinos to open source and from SmallTalk to storytelling, her joy is easily contagious I can say the least. When I saw her talk on spreadsheets — can you imagine — I was easily convinced I could do anything with Excel as well.
When she is not coding, blogging or teaching, she is dancing, out running, or playing a (board)game. So geek out with her about if you see her at the conference or at the after party!
Her talk will consist of her having a constant smile on her face, the story will revolve around how she thinks coding education should look like (for kids, and everyone) and she will finish answering all your questions at the round table (after her talk). Ask her anything, really!
