A promising talk

Spencer is one of our honorary members, he joined the AMSxTech Community early March 2015 after we just started and has been with us since, online and at various meetups. After submitting a promising proposal to our Call for Papers we invited Spencer to pitch his talk one more time. And yes, it is promising.

Spencer has a fantastic personal story to share about his transition from developer/salary man to a founder/entrepreneur, but not through the traditional route. A talk filled with hard lessons learnt over the last 18 months of this new unknown journey. Learn about:

  • finding your first customers with no sales experience,
  • tricks to stay focused and driven,
  • being thrifty/cheap and working towards building a profitable company that lasts rather than building a company to be flipped, sold or acquired.

Living in Amsterdam inspired him to start this new journey and we’re happy to have him join Ninh Bui as part of our BUILDING COMPANIES topic.

More than a decade in tech

A founder, engineer, avid traveller, movie and VR fanatic. Spencer Beckford has been working in tech for over 10 years, for many types of companies: from small family owned startups to large multi-national corporations, from advertising to venture capital, from junior positions to senior management. Along the way he has been enticed by his dream of starting his own tech company, only recently has that become a reality.
