Bumble, the popular online dating app, launched an update in 2016 that offered a new option: BFF. Through Bumble BFF, users can use the app’s algorithm to find new friends.

I have been passively using Bumble BFF for the last six months or so. I quantify my past usage this way because, while I have a profile with photos and a bio, I wasn’t too active in my search for new friends. There were so many changes happening in my own life.

I’ll never quite know how things will play out, exactly. That said, below are a few things that make me swipe left on a profile or unmatch from a potential friend.
