I wanted to do a quick estimation on how long it must have taken Satoshi to mine his/her/their ~1M bitcoins.
Well factoring in 50 BTC reward / block around when Satoshi allegedly mined and a 10 mins block interval that’s…
1M BTC / 50 BTC block reward = 20,000 blocks
20,000 x 10 mins (block interval) = 200,000 mins
200,000 mins / 60 / 24 = ~140 days!
Of course how many bitcoins Satoshi mined is up for debate. It’s possible Satoshi mined waaay more than that, the current estimate is based on Satoshi’s alleged mining pattern.
It’s also possible Satoshi owns even waaaaaay more than ~1M, through mining and buying.
