A question such as, “When is a suitable time to quit?” is rarely answered because many people do not believe in quitting anything. Not addressing this question, however, can render more harm than good if one does not face the harsh reality when something is taking a turn for the worst and the wise choice would be to quit.

It is a natural response to get the urge to quit something that make us feel uneasy or that leaves us feeling drained and serves as no benefit to our personal growth. What is important is addressing those feelings. What is it about this event, business, or job that makes me want to quit? Is there something that I can change? What caused me to lose my drive to succeed in my business?

The Body Never Lies

Your body will not follow a tongue full of lies. If you tell people that your business is going well, and it is not then the tension in your body is already making the truth obvious. Your body knows the truth, no matter what your mouth tells people, or what your brain insist you should believe. If your body is not motivated and it is difficult to summon the enthusiasm to run a business, then it is time to stop and listen. Think about what you end up doing instead just to get your mind off the unhappy state you are in. Do you stay longer at the gym, just so you do not have to deal with the work you have to do? Do you spend more time engaging in fruitless conversations when you should be marketing and advertising your business?

If you no longer have a passion for learning about building your business, then your internal alarm should be going off to let you know that the fire of passion stopped burning. It is now obvious that the desire to do better for your customers and keeping up with trends has gone with the wind. It is also evident that your heart and mind are no longer engaged.

Complaints Say A Lot

It is one thing to have a customer that is nit-picky about their service because they expect perfection, but when you lose customers due to your non-commitment then the ship is broken. It is not good when you are complaining about your business more than anyone else. Just ask you family and friends how you sound when you talk about your company. You know they will tell you the truth so be open-minded when you hear the responses.

Take Action Sooner than Later

If you are noticing any of the signs mentioned here, then it is time for you to get serious and decide the next steps. There is not enough money in the world to bring back the time you lose with procrastination. As entrepreneurs, we do not allow ourselves to wallow in negative situations because we learn how navigate through tough spaces. Only you can do the same if you are in a business that is either not making money or you just do not have the passion for it. Stop wasting time and make a decision that is in the best interest for you and your business.
