Apple Fined $2 Millions In Brazil. APPLE’s NEW POLICY GONE WRONG.
It’s been 5 months since Apple announced its new iPhones, the 12 line up, the company also announced that the company will not include the charging brick along with the phone, as per the company the box of an iPhone will only include the device itself and a charging cable. But in some countries, there are laws which a company has to follow.
In Brazil it is compulsory to include a charging brick with the device in the box, but as per Apple’s new policy, the company will not include charger with the box, the reason behind this policy was “environment” the company claims that by not giving the chargers in the box, they are removing pollution for like 4,50,000 cars per year and this figure sounds great.
“Apple needs to understand that in Brazil there are solid consumer protection laws and institutions. It needs to respect these laws and these institutions,” said Fernando Capez, executive director at Procon-SP
The company was fined $2 million for selling the phone with the charger, Procon-SP, the Brazilian Consumer Protection regulator based in Sao Paulo, fined the Cupertino based company, misleading advertising, and unfair terms.
Not only this but the regulator also charged the company for other issues like iOS updates and other software issues. The Cupertino based company also exempts itself from all the legal and implicit guarantees according to Brazil’s Procon-SP.
Many users think that it is a great decision by Apple to not include charger in the box, as it will create less pollution, but yes they are selling it separately, so the question arises here that, Is this a profit making stunt by the company? Or, The company really cares about the environment?
After making fun of Apple, Samsung also joined the company, as they also removed charging bricks from the box in their new devices, and yes this will be followed by each and every company as it will fill their pockets, cause they have not reduced the price of the phone, even-though after excluding the charger from the box. So, same prices, after excluding the charger, and if you want to charge your phone fast you a separate expensive fast charger.
