Blood Letting

A poem on the insistence of physiology

by Dids on Pexels

When light shines through my hand,
I see red
It burns burgundy
through my palm,
the color of a clot
The scarlet stretches outward,
advancing through arteries
towards the thin webs
between my fingers
and up to my fingertips
It glows like rubies
between my knuckles
before vermillion veins
carry it back to my heart
