An acrostic poem

Decaying away slowly on the inside, your

Energy is always low because you’re constantly

Pretending everything is ok, but in

Reality

Everything is falling apart and you feel like you’re

Suffocating all the time and no one can truly understand your

Suffering because they haven’t been there themselves so you

Internalize it all while smiling

O n the outside, until you finally break and

N o one ever saw it coming.

It seems like every time you hear about someone committing suicide, you also hear their family and friends talking about how they had no idea that person was so depressed or they “seemed happy.” It’s mainly because of the stigma surrounding depression and suicide and the fact that no one wants to talk about it.

People with depression usually don’t want to talk about it because they don’t want to be a burden on others or be judged by others. And people who don’t know what it’s like to be depressed usually don’t want to talk about it because they’re uncomfortable and don’t know how to talk about it or what to say or they think the depressed person might just be seeking attention.
