In the province of Gelderland hides one of the best kept jewels in the Netherlands, the city of Apeldoorn, the second home of the royal family. I confess that when my boyfriend and I decided to include this city on our long Easter weekend, I didn’t expect this “egg” to have such a pleasant surprise inside.

For this reason, I decided to choose the destinations in this itinerary as one of the most romantic to explore in the Netherlands, whether walking or cycling, these are undoubtedly places not to be missed.

Kroondomei Het Loo

The first was none other than Kroondomein Het Loo, a property in Veluwe, the largest property in the Netherlands that covers approximately 10,400 hectares.
The current Kroondomein has 6,750 hectares and consists of most of the Royal Forest. This part is also owned by the Dutch State but with the right to use the crown, representing members of the royal family.
Housed between the line that borders the city and the Kroondomein Het Loo area where the Het Loo Palace and its grandiose parks are located, we were fortunate to have a view of the royal palace park. And it was in that same park that our adventure in Apeldoorn had its prelude, we arrived in the city, checked in and shortly afterwards we were exploring the park of the Het Loo palace.
