Diversity and inclusion mean much more than using diverse images in social media content. For Troy Sandidge that’s the easy way out, a salve that ultimately fails to cure the pain.

“Cultivating and building a diverse community will always provide higher levels of engagement and value,” he said.

Sandidge and digital marketing expert Madalyn Sklar talked about what it takes to truly build a diverse and inclusive social media presence.

The Sandidge formula is simple. Diversity and inclusion equal better:

  • Better discussions
  • Better engagement
  • Better representation
  • Better communities
  • Better marketing
  • Better communication
  • Better results

“Diversity and inclusion is not a political statement,” Sandidge said. “Being, engaging and instilling D&I is a human statement. Brands that are on the fence, you’re doing yourself, your employees, your customers, your audience and community a disservice not being diverse and inclusive.”
