for Gulzar
Jupiter with it’s
many moons
and no one
to write about
any one of them
and here we have
one
and
maybe a billion
odes
already written
this one included
I guess
one could be scientific
and lead with rotation
and something more specific
or
just let out a sigh
as one spots it
nestled between buildings
or gingerly
side step the puddle
in which
it is reflected
careful not to disturb
either of them
just be glad
for these brief hours
nature hands
her over
on loan
only to
send her off to friends
across the globe
the sun
a conspirator
dawn comes
heralding a victory
brief
the day, his cloak
and somewhere
he waits
pen poised
going left to right
on paper old fashioned
never out of style
the celestial dance
overhead
his muse
fodder for his metaphors
sometimes
I think
the sun, the moon
move
just for him
sometimes
I wonder
what he would
have done
on Jupiter
