Here’s What I’m Feeling Working 16 hours a Day (Dayjob + Business)

Hello Medium Fans with a Big Heart and Small Egos, Mac here and right now, I have putten myself in a situation where it is very unsustainable for me. And that is working my butt in the morning for my day job and working the remainder of the day for my business.

I’m talking about freelancing business to be exact. I’m an email copywriter who’s currently serving the e-commerce space for different brands and in the morning I am doing Software Testing.

Why am I doing this to myself? Well, I am an aspiring copywriter. When I say aspiring, I mean I wanna be the best. And if I wanna be the best, I am willing to work and sacrifice some things.

As a copywriter, I have some people who were guiding me as I write some copy for them. Take note that I am being paid good enough here + the guidance I have been receiving were all worth it.

The only downside to this is the long stretch of hours of grinding. But I am really willing to do this.

My secret is based on the principles of the book “Tiny Habit” and I am no affiliate with this book. It’s just that it is very helpful if you are looking to be productive even if you are the laziest person on Earth.

At the same time, I am not depriving myself when it’s weekends. Bring it on Netflix and Food indulgence, yeah!!

But I am not saying you go binge eating and go fat. I am just saying you give your body some rest and love and Imma doing it on weekends.

Okay, going back to the grinding, I am not saying you should go 16 hours yourself. What I was trying to say is, if you want something bad enough, give it some time.

And when I say give it some time, I say give it sufficient time where you can do it consistently.

If you can’t allot 5 hours a day for your business. Cut it down to 4 hours. Still inconsistent? Bring it down to 3 hours. Or 2 hours. Or maybe just an hour.

The idea here is to allot the time where it won’t feel like it’s a chore. If it feels like pushing yourself doing it an hour then give 30 minutes a shot. If it still feels like work, do it for 10 minutes.

Bring the numbers down to the point that it feels easy-peasy enough that you feel so stupid for not completing it.

And if you choose your numbers and do it consistently for some time, you will eventually find yourself increase the time more. It’s like you’re feeling you wanna add some 5 minutes more to it.

It’s okay to do this but don’t jump for a high number. Your body can adjust to gradual amounts. Just like bodybuilding, you can’t just leap from 50 lbs to 150 lbs within the week.

And that’s what my typical Monday to Friday looks like. So if you have some questions for me regarding productivity and habits then I am willing to share them with you.

Take note that I am no motivation guru and I am not certainly gonna go with the Wellness Coach route, I just really want to share with you what works for me because I was a lazy bum myself.

By next week, I am going to share how I write my emails specifically and what are the realizations and the learnings I got while working for my freelancing business.

See you, guys!
