If We Want to Win Against Covid, We Have to Play the Long Game

Covid is a horrible virus that results in adverse long-term health outcomes for individuals from long Covid. If you didn’t know, Covid has not gone away. The popular view of pretending it’s not there will not make it go away. To say that we are going through another wave is not entirely accurate. This week, two members of my family tested positive and are now beginning their arduous recovery. The virus is experiencing a global resurgence as restrictions are lifted, and more people are starting to travel internationally.

Rising infections are impacting the global economy and service sector, and supply chains are struggling to function properly. We’ve abandoned health protection measures such as mask-wearing, testing, sanitizing and social distancing. We aren’t controlling the virus anymore, which is now crippling our lives. In Western nations such as the UK and the US, we suck in pandemic management as we are learning to prioritize profit before health. We seem to have no interest in the active management of the pandemic anymore.

Many experts have now concluded that Covid19 is a seasonal virus evolving with devastating impact. On 1st July, 412 people died in the UK according to ONS data, with Covid19 listed as the cause of death on their death certificates. The latest Centaurus variant can evade immunity. As well…
