How much of ourselves do we reveal? Not much. Therefore, do not be judgemental, but rather be cautious in all your relationships.

Every one of us is on a life journey. How the journey is and will end up depends on each one of us, and how we handle what comes along our way. There are so many self-help books, therapy sessions, and of course, our personal experiences, etc to support us along the way.

However, the final decision of the step we will eventually take is ours alone, and this determines the outcome. The outcome is whether we will be a wise and happy people or stupid and uninformed individuals.

Life Journey Interacts With People

There is no running away from the fact that it is during our interaction with others that we learn most lessons. The lessons that teach us most are harsh, cruel, and bitter. It is not that life is designed like that. It need not be, it is just that we are more likely to learn from such experiences than with those that are joyful and pleasant.

Every person has two sides of the coin. Friends, spouses, colleagues, neighbours (if we get close enough), family members, name them, whoever they are, each has a mystery to which he is shielding away from you, or of which you will never find out until something happens.

‘’Tell no one your secrets, but make them think you have. It creates the illusion of intimacy.’’ Katharine Mc Gee

So how do we act to protect ourselves from the other bitter side of the coin that we can encounter with our interaction with others? It is simplicity and straightforwardness, the sign of real spirituality.

Honesty And Openness Are The Keys

This simply means you give out your honest information and opinions about your interaction with others with a clear conscience. There is a deep spiritual connotation to this. Honesty, truth and integrity should not be compromised.

‘’There’s a kind of magic in truth, honesty, and openness.’’ Frank Ocean

The truth, says The Master, will set you free. The truth is the bedrock of any relationship. Trust is faith, and lying is detrimental to all relationships.

‘’So, the truth really does matter. Lies really are detrimental. We human beings need one and cannot stand to endure the other. At the end of the day truth matters!’’ Floyd Thompkins, Director of Applied Wisdom, University of Redlands

Building Relationship By Self-Examination

You examine yourself with the question, ‘’What will I become under duress or challenges. How will I react to being in control of large sums of money, Will my attitude change if suddenly I come into power, fame and fortune?’’ These are pertinent questions, whose answers could reveal who we really are, or whom we are dealing with.

Our answers will also help prepare us for the hidden man in us and in others. Be open and honest with yourself first and foremost, and then it is a lot easier with others.

Grow In Love As You Walk The Way

You need to strike a balance between self-love and the love that relates to others. Your show of love should not deplete you, but rather energise your spirit. A life of service should serve you and protect you from the harm that could come your way by the ‘hidden man’ of others.

You learn to appreciate and recognise the experiences life have brought to your path, which should illuminate your spirit.

The Conclusion

This shows that our own way of living and interacting with others is a reflection of what we will receive from them.

Our volition matters in all our dealings. Our volition must be good, noble and pure. If we conduct ourselves in a dishonest and irresponsible manner, we will be caught up in our own vices.

‘’Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.’’Corrie Ten Boom

The time to do good and act responsibly is NOW. Never delay, because you never know tomorrow. It might be too late. It is not worthy of the spiritual person that we are created to be. If we have the fear of God in us, which we should, then we have to do our part in relation to our fellow men, knowing for sure that in our work with The Light of God, we can only attract the positives.
