Live Intentionally
Don’t go through life not knowing this
No.
It doesn’t.
Life does not flash before our eyes before we die.
Death steals us soundlessly, while we are blissfully unaware.
And there is nothing on the other side. No awareness. No light, no tunnel, no passage, no angels, no demons. Just nothing.
I should know. I have been there a few times. And back. Unfortunately.
Life often does flash before our eyes while we live though. Many times, in gratuitous, unwanted replays of dramatized and choreographed reels from our past, reminding us of the pain, pleasure, good, bad, egregious, embarrassing moments, but mostly amplifying failure. We don’t need to die to be haunted by life.
We live our highs and lows, our biggest dreams, and worst nightmares, we live our heavens and walk our hells, in this life, right where we are. Sometimes without knowing how good things are until they are gone, never to return. Not knowing just how tough and resilient we are to survive what we knew would destroy us. Life teaches tough lessons, that neither the best, nor the worst can overwhelm us. That the highest of highs are not unachievable and the lowest of lows do not kill us. And one of the tough lessons is that we are tough. Tougher than we know. And isn’t that the most nauseating thing you ever heard?
Life and death are part of each other. One is naught without the other. The trick to a good life is to know the good when we see it, when we have it, when we live it. To treat it like the treasure it is. To live it to the fullest while it lasts. That is what makes the journey worth it, and that is our triumph over sad inevitable endings. That we cherished the life we were given. Played well the hand we were dealt. We made it all worth going through.
Do not go through life not knowing this.
Live intentionally.
Even if life breaks you, heal. Come to the end of the road? make a new beginning! Get up if you fall. Shake yourself, keep walking. Good will come to you, same as bad did. It always does. Your journey is unique, like none other. Don’t question it, believe it instead. It’s not going to be easy. Because easy was never promised.
