morning walk — after long, a friend

like a friend
who promises many a time
to call
and then
simply drops out of sight
after an age
your phone rings
just like that
the conversation picks up
from where you left it
feels just like yesterday

met my good friend
the sun today
who said, doing well mate
just a little hot
under the collar
a few flares here and there
and then warned
you ain’t seen nothing yet

the sky
blue as it can get
seemed to sigh
in agreement
