Ode to Joe

What crows and Betty Boop have in common

Joe’s spirit, alive and well at Beecraigs Country Park, West Lothian, Scotland.

A few years ago, I wrote a short story about a young boy who befriended a crow. That boy was my dad, who, at the age of about 10 years old, discovered a certain crow that liked to follow him through his hometown. I can’t remember when I first heard the story, but it was a constant throughout my childhood, and even into my late teens. And now, I see them EVERYWHERE.
