An exquisite journal’s long journey home.

(A tale of embellished reality.)

Happy Birthday Alyssa!!

I wish I could be there with you, to see your eyes go wide and the wave of joy that washes over you as you unwrap your gift! But alas, the 1,600 miles between us might as well be the far side of the moon (sighhh). I miss you so much! Since I can’t be there to share in this magical little moment, I wrote this note to explain the mystical little journey this journal has taken in order to arrive, at last, in your delicate hands.

Do you remember the day, toward the end of summer, when we were curled together on the couch at the Copeland’s, still lost in the process of discovering one another? Our likes and dislikes, our habits and hobbies and dreams for the future? And then, what with we both being Virgos, the subject of what we liked to get as gifts came up? I still smile brightly at the memory of it. The way your eyes danced as you told me there were three things above all that you loved to receive as gifts — though artisan teas and journals are the only two I can recall! (Yeah, yeah, me and my short-term memory. You little smart-ass — lol).
