The Shoe Shiner

A shining face mirrors in shining shoes

Lines to whom I, a man devote,
Holds no honor in Societal Court.
Shines our shoe at his altar depose,
Blackens his hands for us to pose.
Snobbish strut across the Pompous Hall,
Dance with ladies, when rhythms call.
Sparkle that in a manner can,
Let the facial image, our shoe retain.

Social deeds which the world will applaud
Neither does nor thinks so broad.
Earns his bread for himself and few
Hungry eyes may not drop a dew.
Knows he not, a lesson so great,
Taught me, ‘To fight’ is Life’s dictate!
