The Star Thrower

Finding our place in this unexpected universe.

Chances are, you’ve heard the story of the star thrower before. It’s been retold in staff meetings and storybooks, by moms and motivational speakers. The details change a bit with each retelling, but it goes something like this:

One day, an old beachcomber came across a young boy standing on the shoreline. Thousands of starfish had washed up on the shore and the boy was throwing them back, one by one.
