Michael Odiari — CEO/ Founder of Check https://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/news/2020/06/16/mike-odiari-check.html

Check is a web based app that provides safety and accountability, using video chat at the initial encounter of a traffic stop. To reduce physical interaction between police and motorists.

Founder Michael Odiari, came up with the idea after he was pulled over for a routine traffic stop, where the officer pulled their weapon on him, for a missing front license plate. Things we’ve seen far too often in the news for example the tragic death of Deaunta Wright in Minneapolis.

With far too many fatalities that occur during a traffic stop, Odiari wanted to find solutions to make it safer for everyone involved. Odiari spent over 80 hours doing ride-alongs to understand officers’ needs when making a traffic stop to provide solutions that help bridge the gap, increasing safety, accountability and peace of mind through the process.

Check has gained momentum in building relationships with police departments primarily in Central Texas, along with notoriety with the community. Being featured in: Good Morning Texas, Moguldom.com, CBS , Austin Black Business Journal, numerous blogs along with other media editorials.

Great innovators look deep within themselves, and ask the tough questions to bring about solutions that can change and impact the world.

“I thought I was building a startup, but in the midst of the journey, I realized that the start up was building me,” said Michael Odiari founder of Check App.

With Check being the new Tech “on the block’’ there is much question and concern and even possible backlash. But let the work show that Check has no coded bias. In today’s coded algorithm there has been much backlash upon algorithms — however Check has gathered a diverse team that directly approaches coded bias all together.

In an article published December 2020, by The Guardian, highlights Black Women in tech. The article states “The tech industry lacks representation both in gender and race, . . .” https://www.theguardian.com/info/2020/dec/18/pairing-with-coding-black-females

The Check app approach is formidable in the tech and government sector, challenging the status quo; that pushes new boundaries and looks at the way we as a society administer traffic stops, but more importantly how we as the people, communicate with our government in a new era that’s forced us to change.

Nonetheless, the understanding of both sides is much needed to bridge the gap.

Check’s mission is to Save a Life!

Check’s vision is to provide safe and effective communication between the people and their government.
