There are weeks I was drowning in Clubhouse. A highly addictive, fresh, and seemingly useful phenomenon. But today, when I reached the shore, I have a more realistic view of its present and the future.

Why is Clubhouse so fascinating?

The Club is very similar to a vast cafe with tables around each huge crowd is discussing. This picture reveals us 2 covered attractive chances:

  • sitting at the table of famous people (celebs, influencers, actors, players, singers, etc.)
  • leaving tables and touring around the cafe to satisfy the sense of enthusiasm and epicure.

So, some users spend hours and weeks in the Clubhouse, many start the day with it and many fall asleep between listening!

Why is Clubhouse so addictive?

The most important reason is the “ losing” feel (one of the main growth hack techniques). At the same time you are in a room, may feel something interesting or useful is happening in another room which is “going to miss” regarding not recorded. Moreover when you are not online the app is a highly notification sender and reminds you of “losing”. Absolutely the sense is superficial, and what is lost is you.

Another essence of addiction is “easy consumption”. Hearing does not require special work apparently (except focus and time actuality). The diversity of subjects and narrators makes an awesome attraction too. mainly when opposite gathered around a table.

“Let’s go see the political table. What do gamers say? Artists have anything new? The doctors? musicians? …”

Usually, of course, they say nothing special :)

Is the dialogue possible in Clubhouse?

When there was not so much crowd of people, conversation of opposite users created the hope to dialogue. But now in a room of thousands that beautiful dream is not actual.

It will be certainly more polar by the arrival of huge Android users, and strengthening of the posts, besides avoiding conflict. critical rooms will be formed to neighboring main rooms. Since there is no fair dialogue fortune in a group of thousands, people are going to talk about it in other rooms.

The main dilemma is within the app: room size is critical. Expansion of dialogue in small groups below ten, particularly not turn base, is much possible. But the larger the room becomes, the harder it gets to make a discussion. inconsistent, irregular, and low-related tips instead of answers, logic, and reasoning. Except moderators, limited people could speak (which are usually names), and others will be the listener, like a seminar, restricted debate, or confined conversation. (compare to Twitter in which immediate unlimited commenting is available with no time constraint).

Is the content king?

“because we have to talk, great content comes up and who have sth to talk make the space” repeated in rooms. But the emerge of celebs in this brief experience revealed the outcome! The real content doesn’t form in a big cafe space and the proud winner is narrative and networking. why?

The fundamental obstacle is “temporariness”. True content makers don’t choose a temporary platform to publish their sufferings. certainly, the specialized rooms will be created, but these are rare and likely to be found elsewhere too. champions will be well-sounded public and general information, secrets of success and beauty, stand-up and fun, political events, story, poem, …

Temporariness produces the active need for “freshness”. compare to YouTube, Instagram, Telegram, and Twitter that the content is not lost the data in Clubhouse consumes in current.

“It’s over, where’s the new one?” asks the user.

I dare say that no one in the world has the possibility of continuous production of qualified content. Every day and every hour and every minute!

Yellow content fills.

What is the future of Clubhouse?

The Clubhouse structure makes big seminars and small private rooms.

1- The large rooms, usually by the stars and officials, will be including almost non-cooperative organized conversation in 3 methods:

  • the conversation of the limited speakers while listeners watching. ex: “presidential debate of 2024”
  • The answers of the moderator or special guest to listeners’ questions. ex:” an hour with Stephen King”
  • The answers of listeners to the question of moderators. ex: “what is your best book of 2021?”

2- The small friendly and family rooms will be based on free talk. in better words the future of Clubhouse is something like the Telegram’s now (public large monologue channels and small dialogue groups).

With the introduction of the financial tools and the flow of new users, the advertisement industry will also start. In addition to the Telegram and Twitter solutions in reinventing the Clubhouse’s idea, they may keep the market share on their app. Of course, the simplicity of the Clubhouse is the conquering chance. The software war has just begun, The intriguing question is, “will Instagram knock on the door?!”

Who will be the Clubhouse for?

  • figures, oficcials and celebs, mostly from Instagram, have gotten tons of followers in this short time already.
  • If Instagram is a diary for visual narrators and photographers, the Clubhouse is such to the orators. Then poetry, storytelling, podcasting would be fortunate positions.
  • political and financial analysts are also guaranteed. especially cryptocurrency.
  • language or verbal educationals also have a good chance.
  • But the largest group of users are distant friends, notably dispersed in the globe. Not a similar platform allows to attend a 24-hour live cafe to far friends.
  • Fun, dating, time-wasting …

What cheats will pop up?

many imagined due to voice base and real people sign up, there wouldn’t be bots or bullies. As soon as I saw some cases, found they spread larger by making fake accounts and fake sounds.

Although fortunately there is not “liking” process, I assume it will be added soon. Voice changing, sound makeup, and background music apps would be a popular boom. rhetoric courses will flourish the YouTube.

This idea is not new but got introduced in proper design and time. It creates new ways to fascinating people but if its structure remains as now, folks that are looking for rich content will go back to the text and podcast. And, of course, many remain and explore the shallows, like Insta surfers.
