As a human being, 2020 seems just begun but we all feel the confusion, chaotic which extremely tragic.

The Pandemic we face today is no longer about health, neither about economy nor development, but it’s about us. All thing that exists are interrelated thus if we take a look from any perspective, there is some possibility of a problem would occur, and it looks like the ‘Everything will be fine’ couldn’t fit in anyone’s pocket right now.

A song from Supergrass entitled alright (I'm pretty sure you’ve heard this song) wasn’t considered the right soundtrack to be included in the playlist nowadays, it isn’t because of a lack of self-confidence, self-suggestion or you name it. But indeed, when your 6-years-old child cries in hunger, will you still smiling and say “Calm down, everything will be fine”, I’m not sure.

Tired? we are all tired, this pandemic makes us unable to do the things we used to do before. Who would’ve thought that hugs and kisses would be prohibited because it could endanger us? I’m not talking conspiracies out there about COVID-19, I’m talking about what is happening and we’re experiencing together. What I’m aware of and maybe we should realize that this is our problem. We have to put aside things that could be moved into second or third place so that this pandemic could be handle structured properly because each of us has the duties to protect the environment from COVID-19. We’ll never be able to live and do it alone, right?

The existence of this pandemic makes most of us lose our jobs, money and might be some love. Some of us, may feel social distancing or physical distancing is the best thing we can do, home is the safest place in times like this, but what about those homeless? those who live on the streets and had to leave the house every day to get some food?

I live in a developing country with a massive population, in order to flatten the curve we should make the social distancing works effectively, but I realized that not everyone can do social distancing, the family depends their life on a daily wage, when they don’t come for work automatically they don’t get money, they can’t eat. Happiness was also taken away, it’s undeniable that the pandemic that we face today has taken thousands even millions of people’s happiness on earth. Indeed there are around 7.5 billion people in the world, but whether it’s 1 or 100 or even 1 million, lives are still lives

We often feel anxious, easily emotional, and afraid, also with confusing news on our phone and sometimes it comes with a lack of validation level of the article itself. Panic attacked most people with a lack of literature education, lack of rechecking the validity of an article, even though there are some journalistic principles that need to be understood, not only for journalists but also for the reader.

The journalistic principles could be used to make sure which article is valid and good to be distributed, If the article that isn’t based on the fact is distributed, it will cause panic and misleading concept of an article itself, eg; the news should be interpreted as good news but it turns bad because of misundestranding of news, and vice versa.

According to the International Federation of Journalist (IFJ), there are principles of journalist behavior that we need to know about;
1. Stick to the truth and public’s right
2. Uphold the principles of freedom in honest of collecting and publishing
3. Report incidents that only related to facts
4. Not allowed to hold or hide important information or making false documents
5. An efforts to correct inaccurate information that has already been published
6. Avoid acts of discrimination in any kind of things

These principles above are specifically intended for a journalist in writing articles, but as a reader, you can’t go wrong by understanding the principles of journalism, because a lot of people don’t really deal with this kind of stuff and in order to in line with the first principle of journalistic principles, the truth must be revealed.

As a reader we must re-check an article whether it’s valid or not, we shouldn’t only read news from one source so that we could get more information and also broaden our mind. After knowing the info is valid, then we can spread the news all over the places because we shouldn’t give information on which level of the truth is still questionable.

In this pandemic situation, maintaining self-sanity is one of the main things we should do. How do we keep the brain working, keep exercising, the mind remains well connected and the soul remains calm? Almost every country in the world has implemented social distancing to reduce and eradicate the spread of COVID-19 and that’s also the things we should obey. Maybe along with this pandemic, we could explore ourselves more, pursue new things or even do some productive things that we haven’t done back then, such as repacking goods or utensils at home, etc.

We know that everything should be based on good things and must be used properly and as much as possible not to harm others. Because actually, we all as human beings have a clear conscience and we made out of the same kind-hearted.

As I said in the beginning, this pandemic makes some people lose their jobs, lose their incomes, don't wait for people to be kind, show them how.

Because at the end of the day, a meaningful life means more than the loss of happiness.
