“Women's respect is more important than women's empowerment.”

In fact, I believe that both women’s empowerment and respect are equally important, and one cannot be achieved without the other.

Empowerment means giving women the tools and resources they need to take control of their lives and make their own decisions.

This includes access to education, healthcare, and financial opportunities.

When women are empowered, they can take charge of their own lives and contribute to their families and communities in meaningful ways.

Respect, on the other hand, means treating women as equals and valuing their opinions and contributions. This includes respecting their rights to make their own choices and to live free from violence and discrimination.

In day-to-day life, both empowerment and respect are crucial for women to thrive.

Here are some examples

  • It's a story of every household where a woman is not respected, she may not be allowed to make decisions about her own life, such as what to wear, whom to marry, or whether to pursue an education or career.
  • She may also be subjected to verbal or physical abuse if she does not comply with the wishes of her family members. This lack of respect can seriously undermine her confidence and self-esteem, making it difficult for her to pursue her goals and dreams.
  • In a workplace where women are not empowered, they may be paid less than men for the same work, denied promotions, or excluded from decision-making processes. This can limit their ability to advance in their careers and contribute fully to their organizations. Without empowerment, women may also be more vulnerable to sexual harassment or other forms of gender-based violence in the workplace.
  • In a community where women are not respected, they may be excluded from public spaces, denied access to healthcare or education, or subjected to harmful traditional practices such as female genital mutilation or forced marriage. This can severely limit their opportunities to participate in civic life and contribute to the development of their communities.
  • If a husband does not respect his wife, he may dismiss her opinions, belittle her accomplishments, or even become abusive toward her. This lack of respect can erode the trust and intimacy in their relationship, and make it difficult for the wife to feel valued and appreciated.
  • In a healthy relationship, both partners should respect each other’s opinions, feelings, and boundaries. They should also be empowered to make their own decisions and pursue their own goals, without fear of judgment or retaliation from their partner. This allows both individuals to feel fulfilled and supported in the relationship and can lead to greater intimacy and trust over time.

“When people respect someone as a person, they admire her. When they respect her as a friend, they love her. When they respect her as a leader, they follow her.” — John C. Maxwell

Conclusion:

The empowerment and respect are critical for women’s well-being and success in all areas of life. Without one, the other is incomplete, and both are necessary for women to achieve their full potential. I wish you all women on this planet to Happy Women’s Day. Thank you for reading!
