Mommy Gratitude List

Congratulations Momma! We did it! We survived another summer with the children home from school. We watched our sanity leave us in the dust with the passing of June, July and August.

While these last few weeks of adulting may have been trying (school shopping with a child that only wants to look at the toy aisle, tattling on the two year old because ‘WAAAH he ate my food!’, wrestling matches starring your son who has a quick left hook and atomic elbow…) we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! Or if you are really lucky, your watch has ended (remind us to search real estate based on when school starts). You may or may not have unabashedly cried tears of joy as the school bus sped away with little Johnny because you are now FREEEEE!

In honor of another summer in the books, we are going to take a moment to recognize the following items that made the month of August a parenting success:

  • Dry shampoo
  • Snooze button
  • Sunglasses to hide eye bags
  • Two day old eye liner
  • Mute button on phone
  • Disney Channel
  • Microwavable food
  • Roomba
  • Leggings
  • Fabreeze
  • Keurig
  • Paper plates
  • Baby wipe bath
  • On call sitter
  • Hoodies
  • Surprise egg videos
  • Snackeez cups

I will be forever grateful to these must have items and their irreplaceable role in my life as a parent.

A little word of advice for those mommas who are getting ready to send their first born child to their first day of kindergarten: while you may not be overjoyed to send your babe to school, know that once April/May rolls around, this list will be of equal importance to you. The fact my child made it to school fully clothed, dressed for the correct season to boot, was a giant win in my book.

PS. This list is also college approved. You’re welcome.
