#TB Twitter, parents take back control over TikTok, AR money and more…
Bank of England creates AR
For the launch of the new £20 note, the Bank of England has teamed up with Snapchat, The National Gallery and Tate Britain to create an AR Lens that brings JMW Turner’s famous paintings to life. Turner’s self-portrait, as featured on the new £20 note, is currently on display at Tate Britain alongside the banknote. Check it out!
Facebook lands in hot water
Facebook Marketplace lets users advertise for free to sell a range of goods and services. However, rules across the UK require people who regularly sell food from their homes to register with their local authority.
The Food Standards Agency has said that Facebook should “take responsibility” for people using its website to sell food from their own homes as it could be putting the public at risk. Facebook is now saying its sellers must follow all applicable laws and regulations. Something tells me that not everyone will play by the rules.
TikTok under parental control
TikTok is giving parents more control over the amount of time their kids spend watching videos on the app. The new controls will also give parents the option to restrict or turn off the direct message functionality and select the type of content that children can see while using the app.
Twitter goes back in time
Twitter rolled out a new feature this week that allows users to connect their new tweets with older ones. So whether you want to continue a lost conversation or spotlight a tweet from years ago, you can. It’s a simple feature but it could potentially resurrect hundreds of ancient, forgotten threads. Cue an overload of tweets you’d rather forget!
