Look for these traits to offer a business analyst role

Business analysts have always been a unique breed in the software industry. It is hard for them to break in as fresh college graduates. It is hard for them to get into top companies if they don't have an MBA degree from a great college. Since a lot of roles require domain knowledge (which is hard to just find in any book or a website), experience (which initially you don't have), and a good set of soft skills (some of it you acquire only after being in the game for some time), it is always tempting for an organization to for an experienced business analyst rather than try an entry-level one.

But if companies (service or product-based companies) are indeed looking out for business analysts with just about the minimal experience level, they should keep some pointers in mind.

Do not expect miracles

In some cases, you would have someone adapting to the role real fast. But in most cases, miracles should not be expected. Do not be very specific in terms of requirements while backfilling a vacant role. An inexperienced business analyst has to be allowed to grow into a project.

Have one or two non-negotiables in your mind
