Create personal bookmarks from the default dashboard view on Power BI
Today I am gonna share a useful function to create a customized view(personal bookmark)in Power BI. If you are one of the users who access the same dashboard, you may find that sometimes the view is not that fulfill your requirements. However, from the BI engineer’s view, it is not proper to meet each user’s requirement. Here comes the solution for end-users, a customized view. There are some advantages to building a customized view on the dashboard, the most important one is that you can have multiple versions at the same time, and if you are the person who needs to provide different reports periodically, this would be a good help with it.
Step 1, find out the component you would like to customize
Go to the component and select the icon on the top to personalize the visual
You can also change the types of the default design if it is needed.
Step 2, select the column you want to add to the component
You may have included some data sources for your dashboards, so make sure you have a clear structure and correlation building that could help you find the target column easier. Select columns you need from the right-hand side and take advantage of the search function that can save you some time.
Note: if you didn’t manage your correlation well, you may get the below error message while adding a new column to the component. To solve it, you need to go back to the structure and update the correlation among source tables
Step 3, save your customized view
Click on the tab on the top and save your views. You can have multiple views per your requests, to fulfill the necessary reports periodically.
Now you can have your own view (personal bookmarks) without affecting the default setting of the dashboards. Stay tuned for other Power BI skills.
