FOREST-1 Mission success: A Giant Leap for OroraTech

NewSpace Intelligence for a sustainable Earth

--

Bushfires in Borroloola, Australia, were detected by OroraTech’s FOREST-1 satellite on May 24th, 10:15:37 local time. The image shows a composition between the satellites’ three main instruments, all with a swath of about 170km. The smoke plumes of the fire can be seen in the RGB channel, whereas the MWIR channel tracks the precise heat signatures of the fires. The LWIR channel inserted in the lower part of the image allows for accurate ambient temperature measurement (Source: OroraTech)

Munich-based OroraTech provides NewSpace Intelligence for a sustainable Earth. The company’s wildfire service is designed to inform you of the earliest detection of hotspots and allows you to monitor areas at risk of wildfires.

The company launched its first satellite FOREST-1 with SpaceX in January 2022. The satellite allows for significantly higher accuracy and faster global coverage while cutting down data processing time and delivering high-resolution images at a far lower cost than previously possible.

In June 2022 the company announced that it has successfully achieved the mission goals for FOREST-1. For more information, please visit the OroraTech website:
