Brave Hearts
Memoir: A story about my grandma’s journey to come see me in a time of war
This comic is a true story that happened to me and my family when I was just a baby. The war had just started in Croatia and my grandma wanted to come and meet the newborn me. This took my grandma on a journey that became a testament to her brave loving heart.
Trigger warning: The following comic discusses events happening during the Croatian War of Independence and might be triggering for some people. The following pages do not contain any explicit violence.
I decided to tell this story in form of a comic because I love visual expression and the emotion it can convey. For accessibility purposes, I also made a textual version of the comic after the pictures.
