Dear Perfectionists, Confront Yourself With Evidence About What You Achieved

I didn’t believe my art was getting better until I looked at my logo one year apart. I made the first one in 2024 and the second one in 2025 (created by the author).

Don’t listen to your perfectionism. It’s lying to you!

I have always thought that since I don’t practice drawing regularly, it stands to reason my drawing skills cannot improve and whenever someone says I’m getting better, they are just being nice.

Don’t listen to your perfectionism, listen to the evidence.

Being a perfectionist can take many shapes and forms. For some people, it means never starting a task because perfection won’t be achieved anyway. For me, it means belittling everything I have ever done “because I didn’t do it right” or “I didn’t put my 200% into it”. I push through and do things, seeking my dopamine-fueled ADHD stimulation, but since I don’t do it perfectly, it’s worth nothing.

Last month, I was applying to present my art at a comic festival and I noticed my logo from last year was a bit shabby. I decided to revamp it while keeping the same idea. When I finished, I was shocked to see an actual observable difference between the two logos. The new one is significantly better!
