Research Challenge

As designers, we have a unique opportunity and privilege to positively impact people’s lives. To do this, however, we have to first deeply understand and empathize with our audience.

Our challenge is to conduct research to help our client, The Neighbor Project, identify effective ways to increase community engagement in the Potrero neighborhood. We will use exploratory research methods to understand the context and goals of a specific, underrepresented segment of the community and then communicate our findings in a way that inspires empathy.

It is a 8-week (2018 Spring) individual project (with some collaboration with Sherrie Guan and Will Liang) in the Design Research course taught by Amy Bickerton.

Methodology: Design research (exploratory research methods)
