Introducing Anchor’s waveform editor, now on web
New editing tools and waveform visuals make it easy to split, cut, and insert audio at exactly the right moments, so you can polish up your show with quick precision.
Editing your podcast audio just got easier with Anchor’s new waveform editor, now available on web. Split and trim your audio with precision and quickly remove unwanted noises and segments to create the perfect episode. The new editor allows you to visualize audio at a high level and zoom into granular moments — so, whether you’re splitting your audio into multiple segments or just adding the finishing touches, you can intuitively edit your podcast exactly the way you want.
How it works:
To use the new waveform editor, head over to your episode builder on web and click “…” next to the audio segment you want to edit. Then select ‘Edit audio.’
Hover over the visualizer with your cursor and click anywhere to position the playhead. To play audio starting from the playhead, press “▶” or hit the spacebar.
To drop a split point, double-click anywhere on the waveform or simply click “Split.” You can click and drag your split point to the perfect spot, or delete it completely.
You can delete unwanted segments by clicking the trash icon. Keep your listeners engaged by removing meandering tangents, dead air, and sections that don’t add much to your episode. And if you ever want to undo your edits, a “Restore” button has got you covered.
The new editor lets you zoom in and out of your audio recording using the (+) and (-) buttons on your screen or keyboard. Zoom in to place split points and remove minor distractions like coughs, pauses, and background noises, and zoom out to see your segments in context.
If your doorbell rings when you’re interviewing a guest, or if you spend time messing around with your co-hosts before the “real” recording kicks off, finding and removing these moments only takes a few clicks — so you never have to sweat if something goes wrong during the recording process. There’s even a mini-map of your entire recording at the top of the editor, so you can see the big picture when you’re zoomed in on the smallest details.
Waveform visualization makes it simple to spot natural pauses in the audio, helping you separate your episode into more digestible sections and find natural breaks in the audio where you can add split points and smoothly incorporate additional audio like interludes, Voice Messages, and ads in between your newly created segments. If you’re in the U.S. that means you can more effectively monetize your podcast by adding Sponsorships segments that seamlessly blend with the rest of your show.
When you’re done editing, you can save your revised audio as a single segment that’s ready for publishing, or you can create distinct segments and drag them around to rearrange them in the episode builder.
