Anchor is the easiest way to record audio and start conversations with people from all around the world. If you’d like to try out Background Tracks yourself — or just join the conversation — download Anchor on iOS (Background Tracks coming soon for our Android Beta).

We’re thrilled to announce one of our most creative, fun updates yet: Background Tracks. This update has been a long time coming; in fact, you may have noticed that we’ve been experimenting with background music in our Twitter Moments for a while now. Well, now it’s your turn!

You can now add filters to your recordings to make them sound more professional, help convey an atmosphere or feeling, or just for fun. Check out Anchor Co-Founder Nir Zicherman’s announcement of the new feature — complete with a Background Track of his own.

Everyone’s been putting the exciting new feature to use in different ways, but here are a few of our favorites so far:

RoboPoet, a self described “robot and poet who would like to be your friend”, added a layer of emotion to this poem using the “Info” Background Track.

Brendon made his thoughtful review of the movie Ex Machina sound a bit more professional with “Lounge.” Now we really want to see it!

Kevin terrified us all (and made us laugh at the same time) with this quick tale of an ice cream truck using “Fear.”

I added “Sunset” to this storytelling challenge…just because it sounds really pretty.

Be on the lookout for more Background Tracks, as we’ll be adding new ones all the time, plus more exciting updates designed to help you express yourself creatively soon! In the meantime, what are you waiting for? Start adding your own Background Tracks today.
