Introducing Record with Friends
Record high quality audio with up to seven friends, anywhere in the world, right from the Anchor app. Available for free on iOS and Android.
We’re working hard to make creating audio and sharing it with the world as easy as talking. Usually, this means recording by yourself, capturing conversations with friends who are in the same room as you, or taking call-ins from your Anchor listeners. But starting today, Anchor now makes it possible — and really, really easy — to loop any of your friends into a live, recorded conversation, right from within Anchor. Once you’ve captured the conversation, you can instantly add it to your station or a podcast to share out with the world.
How it works
To start recording with friends, just tap the big red button at the bottom of the screen. Then, instead of immediately holding the phone right up to your ear to start recording, tap the “Invite friends to record with you” button. From there, you’ll be able to invite anyone who has favorited your station on Anchor, or any of your Facebook or Twitter friends. You can also send an invitation to anyone who’s not yet on Anchor to download the app; once they’ve installed it, they can join the recording instantly without having to set up an account.
No extra hardware required
Record with Friends requires no additional hardware or software to work. All you need — and all your friends need — is the free Anchor app for iOS or Android. It’s as simple as regular recording in Anchor.
High quality audio
The quality of audio captured with Record with Friends is great, and sounds just as good as recording directly from your device’s microphone. Other group recording software (including Anchor’s previous Interviews feature) requires recording via a standard telephone call, resulting in lower quality, inconsistent audio. But Record with Friends sounds great, no matter how many people join in.
