If you know anything about Anchor, you might be thinking to yourself: why is Anchor launching a podcast? Didn’t they just launch an app aimed at reinventing radio and podcasts only two days ago? Allow us to explain.

If you’ve ever read about the early days of radio, you may have heard about “pirate radio”, where non-professional broadcasters would leverage regulated radio frequencies to transmit unauthorized audio. Just like the pros, these hobbyists wanted to get their message out to the masses — they just didn’t have a way to do it. So, they leveraged an existing channel with a built-in listenership to get their message heard.

That’s kind of what we’re doing with Let’s Talk.

There are some incredible, authentic conversations taking place on Anchor right now. And we want the Anchor community to be heard. But until we have millions of listeners, it’s going to be challenging for the best conversations to go truly mainstream. That’s why we’re launching Let’s Talk — to leverage a channel that already has plenty of listeners (in this case, podcasts) to spread awesome Anchor conversations far and wide. We hope that over time this will encourage listeners of the podcast to come onboard Anchor to start making their own waves.

So if you love listening to podcasts, or just want to hear some great conversations from people using Anchor all around the world, subscribe to Let’s Talk on iTunes. We’re also available on SoundCloud.

In our most recent episode, betaworks’ Maya Prohovnik and Christian Rocha, both co-founders of a company called Glitter, talk to members of the Anchor community about “founder’s doubt” and knowing when it’s time to shut down your company. Listen here:

We hope you like listening to it. And if you’ve heard a conversation on Anchor that you think deserves to be on Let’s Talk, send us an email and we’ll consider it for a future episode.
