Anchor is the easiest way to record audio and start conversations with people from all around the world. If you’d like to join any of the conversations below — or start one of your own — you can download Anchor on iOS or sign up for our Android Beta.

Hey!

I’m Nataleigh, Anchor’s new Community Manager. In case you missed it, here’s my introduction, courtesy of my awesome teammate Maya:

Since joining the team, I’ve been inspired by many of the amazing conversations going on in the app. Every day, people are sharing innovative ideas, thought-provoking questions, and personal stories that make us laugh — or cry. And the beauty of an interactive community like Anchor is that the conversation never stops there.

Here are five of my personal favorite conversations from the past week; check them out — and don’t forget to join in!

Love, Remixed

Tony, feeling smitten, professed his excitement about a woman he’d recently met, declaring, “I won’t forget a girl like that.”

… and then one of Anchor’s resident remixers, Skin Daggas, came back with this remix of Ton’y wave that has been stuck in my head ever since.

Activism and the Olympics

Jelani posed a question: “Why don’t Olympians shine light on real world problems?” Others weighed in with thoughtful responses, from possible explanations to counter-arguments that Olympians do in fact shed light on those “real world problems.”

The True Meaning Behind Our Favorite Emojis

I recently got to thinking about some of the weird ways I use Emojis. So I recorded a wave explaining what I think my favorite go-to Emojis say about me, and asked others to do the same. (Mine are 😘😱〰️ — can you guess why?)

Those Weird Things That Remind You of Your Ex

Kate explained that she’d been away from Anchor for a bit because it reminded her of an ex, then encouraged others to share the weird things that remind them of their exes. Responses ranged from NPR to the Cheesecake Factory.

Thinking About Death

Joe was watching the old TV show “What’s My Line?” when he suddenly got to thinking about aging and death. It’s a topic people often avoid, but a thoughtful discussion took off from there (psst: check out the latest episode of our podcast for more on this).

So there you have it: a few of my favorite conversations from this week!

Looking for more thought-provoking conversations to join? There’s plenty more where that came from. Head over to Anchor and and see what people are talking about right this minute (our “Conversation Starters” station is a great place to start).
