In todayโ€™s information-rich world, authentic applications remain scarce. James 1:22 gives us a significant reminder, urging us to immerse ourselves in the transformative power of Godโ€™s Word. โ€œBut be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.โ€ There must be an action beyond our hearing; otherwise, youโ€™re living dishonestly.

The call to be doers of the Word has significance in todayโ€™s complex world, where knowledge is at our fingertips on overflowing knowledge in social media. We are bombarded with viewpoints, ideologies, and information, which causes us to become passive and not active, where itโ€™s not common to find one performing Godโ€™s Word.

Hearing Godโ€™s Word is a blessing, but thereโ€™s more blessing coming to those who not only hear but also keep and implement Godโ€™s Word. Obedience is required for spiritual growth. Blessings are not only in the hearing; they unfold in the doing. Luke 11:28 Jesus said, โ€œYea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.โ€

Paulโ€™s exhortation aligns with Jamesโ€™ call to action, emphasizing the importance of actively implementing Godโ€™s Word in a chaotic world and fostering peace amidst turmoil. In Philippians 4:9, he said, โ€œThose things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.โ€

Christโ€™s parable in Matthew 7:24โ€“27 highlights the importance of taking action as doers of the Word who are rooted in Christ, enduring lifeโ€™s storms, and demonstrating the enduring power of obedience. Verse 24 He said, โ€œTherefore, whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rockโ€ฆโ€

John echoes Jamesโ€™ exhortation, emphasizing the authenticity of love demonstrated through action. 1 John 3:18 says, โ€œMy little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth.โ€ โ€” Love requires action! This verse challenges us to love actively, reflecting the selfless love Christ demonstrated on the cross.

Brethren, as we take this challenge to be doers, we not only align ourselves with biblical teachings but also become beacons of light in a world groping in darkness. Itโ€™s a call to bridge the gap between knowledge and transformation, making Christianity a living testament to Godโ€™s love.

As we strive to be doers of the Word, letโ€™s remember Colossians 3:17, which says, โ€œAnd whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.โ€ Our actions, reflections of His love, must continually point back to the transformative power of Christ.

Always Begin With Godโ€ฆ

Prayer: Lord, grant us the strength to be not just hearers but doers of Your Word. May our lives be living testimonies of Your love and grace. Help us, through our actions, reflect the transformative power of Christ in a world that desperately needs Your light. Amen.
