I FEEL BETTER, SO MUCH BETTER

Leonardo AI by the Author

Sometimes, the old Gospel songs convey important truths. I think the writer of the above song discovered the deeper life and thought it could best be shared in a song. The laid down burden may mean sin but I doubt it. I think the songster is referring to another burden. The burden of self, the burden of our humanity. A Pastor of mine used to say “my body, (flesh, humanity) does not believe in Jesus because it has never seen Him.” Why is our humanity a burden?

Well, that is where fear comes from, where anxiety comes from, doubt comes from, worry comes from, slow to obey God comes from, slow to be a spiritual person comes from, slow to have a deep relationship with God comes from, the potential to move away from God comes from, not having a good knowledge of the Bible comes from, not listening to the Holy Spirit comes from, failing to preach the Gospel and do the works of the Kingdom comes from. It is where the devil attacks and attempts to hinder and deceive us.

Our humanity is a burden if we do not handle it correctly. It is what Paul was talking about when he said, The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the flesh
