Precious than Silver and Gold
“God’s instructions, treasure untold,
Value them more than silver and gold.”
Instructions serve an essential role in our lives, acting as a compass to help us navigate the complexities of our existence. It has various forms and provides us with guidance and wisdom to navigate the complexities of life. Whether it’s following a recipe, assembling furniture, or following traffic regulations, instructions offer us the clarity we need for success.
However, the world we live in today is flooded with confusion, and it can be challenging to discern the right way to go amidst the chaos. And we cannot deny that we frequently seek guidance, directions, and instructions. Yet the value of instructions extends far beyond these practical applications.
Proverbs 8:10 uncovers the profound significance of instructions as they pertain to our spiritual journey; it says, “Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.” — here we discover the value of godly instruction as eternal riches that surpass the allure of the world’s temporary treasures. God’s Word unveils the power of His instructions.
As believers, it is essential to adore God and align ourselves with His instructions. True knowledge begins with deep honor, respect, and reverence for the Lord. Proverbs 1:7 affirms us that “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” — It’s a “fool” if we reject the guidance that comes from the LORD.
God’s Word serves as our guiding light, a majestic, eternal, immutable, inspired, inerrant; a complete and settled text written in the Bible for our guidance. Contains the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers! Psalms 119:105 says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” Our direction is assured through His Word.
We must solely trust the Lord and not rely on our limited understanding. When we acknowledge God in all aspects of our lives and obey His instructions, He faithfully leads us down the pathways He designed for us. Proverbs 3:5–6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Amen! That’s a promise from God. Every word of promise we hear from people around this world may fail, but the word of our God shall stand forever! He said in Matthew 24:35, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
All that is written therein, both in the Old and New Testaments, is profitable instruction. 2 Timothy 3:16–17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
Brethren, God’s instructions are more significant for us than the treasures in this world; we are ultimately led to the ultimate source of wisdom and guidance — Jesus Christ. Why? Because He is the “Word that was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (John 1:1,14)
May we surrender our lives to Jesus, the perfect Instruction. Let us value Him above earthly treasures and experience the abundant life that only He can provide and fulfill.
You cannot weigh His Word to the pawnshop and have the silver and gold, but God weighs you on His judgment; you better pack up and forget not His ways…
