Andaman Yacht Carnival was born out of a struggle of many years and unrelenting support from friends, family and the Government. It is an idea that has the potential to take Andaman tourism to new heights. The journey was difficult but our passion to see the idea take birth and grow into a thriving tourist attraction kept us going. Receiving the prestigious national tourism award for innovation has today strengthened our faith and boosted our enthusiasm to do bigger and better.
Sail The Andamans — Andaman Yacht Carnival started in 2018 with the support of Ministry of Tourism — Government of India, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Directorate of Tourism, Port Management Board and the Andaman Chamber of Commerce and Industries. The brainchild of our founder Rathnam R, the unique event brought the spotlight to Andaman as a highly lucrative and beautiful destination for yachts. Yachts earlier did not have a lot of information on what to expect while navigating the Andaman Islands. With several of the islands not being inhabited and the Restricted Area Permit, yacht owners and crew had to sail through difficult waters while planning their sailing trip here.
With an undying love for Andaman, Rathnam knew that this was an opportunity to bring Andamans in the world Yacht tourism map. The Government offered support by getting rid of RAP. With careful planning, precision operation capability line up and right attitude, Rathnam and his team crossed all hurdles to finally make their dream a reality and organized the first official Yacht Carnival of Andaman in 2018.
From inviting participants to ensuring the yachts, owners and crew had a great time, the Andaman Holidays team took care of every little detail. The results were noteworthy. The event was viewed as an innovation in toursim for Andaman Islands and left its mark. It is the first time that an Andaman based Destination management company has won such a prestigious National Toursim Award.
Our vision is that Andaman Yacht Carnival turns the Andaman Islands into a prominent yachting destination and the islands as a whole reap the socio-economic benefits. For us, this is just the beginning and we want to extend our gratitude to everyone who worked hard to make this possible.
