My name is Andrei, I’m a travel expert in Kyrgyzstan and, in the long term, in Central Asia.
At the end of 2017, we created a company called Show Me [Bishkek]. By accident. At that time, Oleg and I were preparing for a completely different startup, we worked on the idea and presentation of that startup for several months, we even made a working prototype but then we found out that we won’t get any investment. And we were sitting at the Burger House understanding that it was over. Months of preparation down the drain, but all of us were charged with energy to do something, to create something. And we had to come up with a new idea there, at exactly that moment, while the tea has not yet finished. Then an absolutely spontaneous decision arose — to engage the “craft” tourism in Bishkek. And we went this way, without experience, without a team, almost without a budget, but with a great desire to develop the service there, where it does not exist. We obviously did not look for easy ways and decided to start with excursions. And how many tourists buy excursions in Bishkek? Spoiler: none.
That meeting took place on August 25, 2017. In mid-November, Show Me received it’s first customers, revenue amounted to 6950 som. Two years later, the seasonal revenue of our company, in which only two people work permanently, exceeded 4,500,000 som, and a contract for another 2,000,000 was signed as a bonus.
Now we are working on a franchise in Central Asia, and if we succeed, we are determined to go further, to the CIS and Europe.
I am writing this post at 02:27 AM on a bus bound from Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) to Tashkent (Uzbekistan). Another 8 hours drive, and for me, this is a great opportunity to follow the advice of Roman and start my blog on Medium.
