The title sounds very promising. You expect an exciting game. But is it?

Firstly, the graphics is very disapointing. A low-res affair no longer appropriate for 2014. The sea looks fine but nothing special. The sound effects are just OK.

This game is set mostly aboard sailing ships yet you can only make the ship go faster, slower, left and right as if you’re driving a truck. The developer should have set a sailing challenge where a little knowledge of Physics and Geometry would be a great help. What a missed opportunity.

In any case, when you decide to go faster or slower, you hear the first mate shouting out your command but you don’t see any sailor pulling ropes and trimming the Sail or anything. You just have to imagine them I guess.

This game has a “tactical mode” in which you drag your finger on the screen moving your ship to a marked location while avoiding the enemy. It’s as basic as that.

The battle is a turn-based thing. While it is the enemy’s turn to attack, all you can do is”dodge” his gunfire! I doubt that this is historically accurate, in fact its quite comical. The more historically accurate manoeuvre would be “Crossing the T” in which you bring your ship across the enemy’s bow so that you can fire all your guns at him while he can’t fire a single one at you.

When it is your turn to attack, you just drag your finger on the screen onto the enemy’s ship and release. Wow! That is so hard. Again, you just have to imagine sailors loading the guns and lighting the fuses.

I guesse the best part of the game is the narrative. But it’s in there form of static panels with text that you have to read. They could have made this into”mini-movies” in which the characters walk and talk. After all, there are 690MB of additional files here. The developer is really determined to make us use our imagination evidently.

So should you buy this game? Absolutely NOT. Keep your money.

But if you still want to buy this sh**

PS: I didn’t include the price because I don’t remember it. I looked up my Google Keep notes and found that I wrote down $6.99 when I bought it. But that doesn’t sound right.
