Why developing for Android Wear is such important!

Wearables are just the feature? NO they are the present!

And because that developing apps that support this new devices types is such important.

How do you look for the weather? Do you take your smartphone out of the pocket to open an app and search for the current weather conditions? Or do you look at your watch and see the current weather conditions in just a piece of the time you would need to search for it on your smartphone? What is the easier way?

But first I want to explain you the use of wearables because they aren't small smartphones. They are there for contextual services. They should give you the possibility to inform you about important things at the right time (like calendar events) or should give you the possibility to get information very fast (for example by voice search).

When people buy such devices they want to have a use for it - otherwise they wouldn’t by them. It’s the developers responsibility to serve this use with there apps.

I’m an Android developer too. My most recent app - ReadIt, a very simple and well designed newsreader - just got support for Android Wear. Via the wear app you can see the list of the most recent and most important news (sorted by engagement). You can also save this articles directly to your bookmarks in the app. That the wear app isn’t distracting the user it only shows the title, the date and the source from where the article is.
